Hello,
We only stayed a couple of days in Lima, in a very nice suburb by the sea called Miraflores. We stayed at Casa de Baraybar which was lovely, with big fluffy towels and steaming hot water although it was the most expensive place we have been to so far (a huge 15 GBP a night for two). Miraflores is a lovely area, and almost feels a little like home due to all the european/american brands but in the sunshine!
On our second day in Lima we visited the Museo Arqueologico Rafael Larco Herrera, which had a wide range of ceramics and gold recovered from some of the pyramids we have visited earlier in the trip. The museum also had a gorgeous garden where we had a very tasty lunch.
After this we took a trip to the zoo, which was huge. The site contained some more pyramids and was divided into three areas, the jungle, the mountains and the coast. The most amazing animals were all the different types of cat found in Peru, including some jaguars.
On our last day, we didnīt have that much time to spare so we tackled the post office for a second time (but this time with slightly more style)...there are far too many nice things here to buy...must remember the mantra, I only have a small backpack and not much money!
I feel like we have barely scratched the surface of Lima, but as we are almost up to the halfway point of the south america leg there are still alot of miles to cover and hours on the bus to go! Maybe one day I can come back to Lima with a big empty suitcase?
Next stop Ica.
Bye for now.
