So our journey to Dahab involved a ferry at 4 in the morning to Sharm El Sheik which was very rough and freezing cold due to over the top aircon. We then had to drive to Dahab which involved a white knuckle drive in a taxi while I contantly was looking for the 'oh shit' button. The driver even managed to screw up something on one of his wheels (smelt like brakes actually) due to his crazy driving at high speeds with arabic dance music blaring at top volume and chain smoking cigarettes. So anyway we did arrive safely in Dahab in the end. Dahab is on the sinai peninsula and is by the sea - and is a great spot for diving and snorkelling. Kris and I did a try dive experience there which involved us diving with an instructor swimming along above us regulating all of our air etc while all we had to do was breathe through a regulator and take in all of the beautiful fish and coral. It was amazing! one of the most beautiful experiences ever!
WE had a night out on the town in Dahab a bit of pool a few 2 for 1 cocktails and Hassan one of the other guides from another tour company befriended us and took us to a bar where he gets VIP treatment so by association we were being treated quite nicely with free drinks etc. A bit of dancing ensued and Kris and I grooved on out of there about 2am anticipating an earlyish start snorkelling the next day.
Basically Dahab was 3 days of relaxing and sunning ourselves by the pool but we did do another day of snorkelling at the blue hole with our guide Irbrahim which was also very pretty but I would have to say that diving was a better view of the world under the sea.
There were some nice restaurants in dahab and plenty of cats and dogs. Some even residents. One night a dog came into a place that was obviously this cats territory and she chased the dog around the restaurant clawing and biting him LOL. It was a little unnerving at the time but quite funny afterwards as the dog was yelping and trying to escape her.
Our leisure time was finally up and it was time to leave dahab. its definately like another country compared to the rest of Egypt my kind of place though by the sea with a more relaxed attitude.
