Entry 3 of 3 | show all | print this entry

We arrived late to Bristol after missing our earlier flight. We found a bus to the train station, but the trains to Abergavenny were no longer running so we caught a taxi to the hotel district. The driver said he was happy to have someone from ND in his cab as he had given rides to people from 32 of the 50 states and we were his first from ND so he could now "tick it off his list". after trying a couple of hotels we found a room but got several redirections of bad directions and wound up walking 3 times as far as we had to. Indian food restauranteurs give the best, most accurate directions BTW. We settled in to a beautiful downtown hotel after walking through the thick, loud, drunken Bristol University Saturday night pub crowds, up and down hills dragging our suitcases (or carrying them in Scott's case). We missed out on our farm stay that night. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day!

Sounds like you off to a fun start. Don't forget to try pub food when you get the chance. Cheap and good and gives you a feel of the local culture. Also if you like Indian food, England is the place to get it as it was a former colony. Hope you have a chance to fix the luggage handle!
