We would have liked to stay in Switzerland for longer but we also wanted to see a bit of Austria so we headed to a skiing resort called St Anton. It was quite a long drive but using the motorways helped a lot.  We crossed into Austria, again with no problems.

We passed through St Anton which looked really nice and stayed in a small village just outside it called Pettneu.  Again the campsite was really nice but when we started putting up the tent we did wander if we would have to move because the ground was so hard – our pegs would hardly go in the ground.  We changed the position of the tent though and it seemed to be fairly sturdy with the help of some rocks and trees to tie the guy ropes too!

The weather deteriorated a bit and it got much colder (but looking at weather it seemed to be the same all over) although we were quite lucky and had a few nice days so we made the most of it and did some walking.

On our first walk the rain started and we were pretty wet but the good thing about walking in the mountains here is often there is a hutte at the end of it and we found that they do great hot chocolates!

The second day we drove to the next village and started walking again towards a huttie.  Once we reached the hutte we kept climbing to try reach the top of a peak but we didn't make it because it got a bit snowy and our legs were tired as we had already climbed about 1400m.  The weather stayed clear for us to get a good view in all directions but when we were nearly back to the car the heavens opened and we got soaked again.  Worse still the rain hardly stopped the whole night, and in the morning everything felt a little damp.
