I apologize for not being able to get to the computer more often. If I hadn't had my computer charger stolen on the plane, and if my flash drive wasn't corrupted, and if my camera charger hadn't also been stolen, then this Blog would be more frequent and more colorful! Oh, well, I do what i can do!
We left for safari on Friday at 1:00pm. The Bushmen Co. picked us up in 2 Landrovers that seat 5 people + driver & guide. First we went to Arusha where we could pick up treats for the trip at the ShopRite. A ;little different from our stores. :) Then we continued to Lake Manyara Natl Park. We got there about 5:00, and went to our lodge site. It was so cute! Little round huts that have 2 twin beds, a bathroom and shower. There was a separate building for dining, and they cook outside. Also there was a high pavilion-type thing. Lots of monkeys in the trees! We dropped off our stuff and then went safariing! The first thing we saw was a warthog and baby (Pumba from Lion King). The we spotted a female lion sleeping in a tree. You stand on the seats of the Landrover with your shoulders an head sticking out the top. A very bumpy ride! We saw many different kinds of birds, Dik Dik (they are so cute & tiny!), gazelle and antelope. Then we came upon some elephants!! Wow! They were on both sides of the road, and then a baby one came to the road from the right. Even though I can't take any pictures, all of the people in my group are taking pictures and are going to send them to me when we get home. So I will have lots of pictures rto share with you then. The baby elephant was cute, but when we started to move the car forwardm he trumpeted. We had to take off fast, bercause one big elephant had gotten behind the car, the baby was on the side and one was coming towards the front from the left. The guide send they were getting ready to charge, as they are very protective of the young ones. We saw a few more things and then went back to camp for the night. We had a delicious dinner (my favorite was a half of an avocado stuffed with a mix od chopped cukes, onions & tomatoes in an Italian-like dressing. Yum!) The next morning we went at 7:00 to the Ngorongoro Ctater. This was my very favorite! We spent the day there. Unfortunately, my fingers are tired and I am starving, so I will leave you for now. Hopefully I will be back soon with another installment.
This is Easter weekend. On Friday am, 3 other women and I are going to Mt. Kiliview Lodge, at about 3900' up the mountain. We are hiking to a waterfall, dancing with the Chagga tribe, spending the night and Saturday chilling and returning to the home-base Saturday evening. Sunday a few of us are going to our drivver, John's house for Easter dinner. Monday there isn't any school, so I don;t have plans yet. Happy Easter to everyone back home! Have a lovely day. I'll be home in 10 more days! BTW, excuse the typos and grammer, as Spell check isn't working! More thumbnails ...
