After recovering the next day we went out for a wander around Fort Cornwallis, the 18th Century British fort on the edge of George town before finding the street vendors in full swing. Picking our way between stalls and lots of locals stuffing themselves we couldn't pass by without a little snack, which turned out to be another 2 hour eating session. All kinds of fishy delights stuffed with flavour and spices, tossed into hot oil which you then pick at with cocktail sticks. Huge plates of seafood thin noodles, bowls of thick noodle soup with pork and crab balls were chased down with a plate of various exotic fruits for a total of about RM 15 ( about 3 GBP) You can see why were are struggling to leave this place! On the way back to the bar we discovered a Chinese theatre company down a side street which we stood and watched for a while (see photos) as well as impromtu cinema screen set up in the street showing the Jacky Chan classic "Police Story".
Back to the bar for some non-alcoholic drinks where we met some nice Germany girls. Sonya, one of said girls wanted to sample some of the roadside delights so I wandered back with her for more fried fishy delights and more plates of fruit. We booked a overnight minibus up to the Perhentian islands for the next night and got a relativly early night.
