Where I stayed
Big4 Forbes Holiday Park

Flag of Australia  , New South Wales,
Saturday, March 3, 2012

We departed a very soggy Muswellbrook for Forbes at 8.30 am this
morning having spent a comfortable night in another motel with wifi, TV,
en-suite and tea & coffee making facilities. Bliss.  Again, it had rained all night.  The TV was predicting dire consequences of
the continuous downpour particularly in the area that we were travelling

The road to Forbes had several almost impassable floods and
we saw that many of  the rivers were,
indeed, in torrent (if that’s the correct term). At times it was quite
scary.  We stopped off for a quick meat pie
in Dubbo (did you know that Australia is the meat pie capital of the world?
This is a commonly unknown fact.  You
learn something everyday don’t you?), passed through Peak Hill “twinned with gold”
or something of the kind and arrived at our destination about 4.oo pm.

Tonight we forego the luxuries of motels for the hardships
of  the road.  Although, I must say, this site is massively up
market to the one we drove into and immediately out of yesterday.  We even have our own “en-suite” facility (a
loo and shower exclusive to us, located adjacent to the campervan).  This is a luxury.

Vinnie cooked an exquisite meal of bangers, new potatoes, broccoli
and runner beans.  We dined like Kings
and even broke open one of the wines we bought yesterday, a delicious Verdelho.
Vinnie said “this is how the rich live” I said “Oh no it isn’t”!  For one, I can’t get the grime out of my feel
from walking around in flip flops.  Rich
people don’t have that problem.

Forbes had a particularly bad pasting from the rain in the
last few days.  The lake is dangerously
high, spilling over onto the surrounding land but, thank goodness, the rain has
stopped and we have been assured that it won’t rain tonight.

Tomorrow I think we are heading for Griffith where I guess we
will stay overnight and then on to the Sturt Highway that will take us through
the outback and on to Adelaide.

All I hope right at this moment is that a wretched mozzy
doesn’t get into the camper van tonight to pester me to death like one did the
other night.

Still following your adventures. You have more of them then I don't know what. But I sure do love reading about them! By the way, what's a "mozzy?"
