Where I stayed
Iron Knob Rest Area
Today we drove through Port Agusta. It's a bit of a strange town, not really what I expected at all, but they did have a Big W so I was finally able to buy some books to read. Joel had a wheel alignment done on the caravan while we were there, and he reports that 'it's tracking much better now'. We couldn't believe how many cops we saw in such a small town in such a short space of time. Joel had a run in with the petrol station owners because their sign displaying the price of diesel was incorrect (1.23 instead of 1.32), he won the bout and got the petrol at the cheaper price. We pulled in to camp just past Iron Knob (a mining town) at a roadside rest area. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the track continued on into the bush. We ended up away from the road, but feeling quite safe as there were other caravans around. We collected some fire wood and had a large, warm fire. We tested our camp oven for the first time in the coals and successfully cooked apple crumble.
