Uncle Terri's place

We rocked up to Uncle Terri's after dark and set the van up beside his house at Cape Jaffa. A tiny town between Robe and Kingston, where there are 10 permanent residents. Terri's house is a stone throw away from the beach, and there are great views of the ocean from his porch. A very relaxing 4 nights were spent there, with Joel working on the van/car/kayak during the day, and sitting in front of the fire in the shed with Terri by night. Joel also sampled Terri's home brew (very good Black Sambucca I hear). Here Joel set about the task of attaching a motor to his kayak (not mine, just his!) and we went down to the new, massive marina development to test it. It did work, first go. The local marina development officer was so impressed that he took some photos and is going to publish an article about it in the next newsletter.
Terri played host and tour guide while we were there, showing us the ins and outs of the area. We went for a drive along the beach in his Suzuki, Joel sitting on a deck chair in the back, and he nearly fell out numerous times. Terri is a keen fisherman and so we stopped quite a bit to scour the beach for crab pots that had been washed up by the sea. We found many. Our tour guide also took us on a trip to Kingston, but he was very disappointed that he could not take us out fishing on his boat. The weather did not want to play! Terri gave us some good advice on where to head next, so we left (with a full tank of water this time) for 42mile crossing.

Nice motor on your boat Joel, doesn't quite compare to Uncle Terry's. Bloody cold in Melbourne. Hope you are somewhere warmer by now.
