We started out with a hike down to the falls. Here's an interesting tidbit the falls which you can walk across can go from a mild flowing falls to a raging river in minutes due to flash floods. This of course adds to the adventure while you are standing in the water enjoying the calm tranquility of the flow. We found ourselves laying on the rocks of the falls watching the water stream right by us while we composed Haiku's which captured the moment in time.
'Sun shines on my face... bedrock cools my spine and neck... lover by my side'
We left that trail and headed over to Wolf Mountain trail. This is a 7.5 mile level 3 trail that will challenge the very core of your being. We started out not knowing what to expect or if we could even hike that far. The trail was brutal from the steep grades to the gravel paths with the pludging drops that could send you falling to an untimely death. It was also breathtaking from the hilltops where you could see for miles to the edge of the bluff looking down into the river below. In exactly 3 hours we had endured and conquered this challenging trail...and lived to tell...
We ended the day passed out on the bed from exhaustion.
