Arriving in Curitiba
That is again a very international trip. At first we were Aleksandra from Macedonia, Aniko from Hungary and I. But we met Kari, also a trainee, in the same bus and she is from Norway.
We arrived in Curitiba at 10 am and we noticed that this city is different from other cities I have seen until now.
I had the feeling that this isn`t dangerous at all and so we walked the few meters (we are fit ;) ) to the Hostel Roma . It is neat a big big Shopping Mall and a nice park.
We got a small stinky room and the shower looked really dangerous. I ask myself how many accidents they have because of that showers. ??
And also the receptionist was worry and so he came back after a couple of minutes and asked if we would like to have another room for the same price. I think he was really worry that we could die during taking a shower. Because the cables are really near to the water. And I can remember my electric shocks in Salvador and Maceio!
The new room was really big and not stinky at all ;) and it has even a TV, but who wants to watch TV during traveling? Mhmm we won`t have time for that luxury ;)
But he gave us a good tip for a very cheap and good Chinese restaurant. You just go along the Avenue Sete de Setembro and you pass the park on the right and the Shopping Mall on the left. The restaurant is on the right side with red chairs ;) and you can eat as much as you want for 3,50 Reais (ca. 1 Euro ;) ) PERFECT!
Aleksandra went to a Brazilian Girl. She knows her from the interne. There is a community and there you can offer accommodation for other people for free. And for that you can also use the offers from over the world. It is really great!!
Her name is Claudia and she will be our private guide during our stay in Curitiba ;)
European Weather .... Huhhhh
It was raining cats and dogs and it was also cold. My shoes were wet in, I would say, five minutes and I only had one pair. :(
But I had luck and they were selling umbrellas on the street. I think the south is the only place in Brasil where you can buy umbrellas.
We walked to the praca Triadentes and watched the people and the souvenirs and they are really different! They have a lot of kitsch dolls.
When you follow the street there is a big cathedral.
It is really pompous and they were preparing a wedding. I am also really impressed how many people here are religious.
In Germany the churches are mostly empty, but here?!
So we walked just a bit through the city, like sightseeing. And we also saw a German restaurant. Totally interesting for me, and we could take some fun pics ;)
Yeah they have also dark beer and they have real glasses, and I mean real glasses, not these small ones. ;)
There is the Praca Passeio Publica and this is a really good place. There you can see monkeys and Tucons and there is also a restaurant and a nice lake with a bridge.
We also went as the last destination to the Niemeyer Museum .
And that is WOW! I really liked the architecture and the exhibition. It is the biggest and the most modern museum in Brasil. It is a crazy one! It reminds me a bit at the Hitchcock Movies ;)
And there was a great exhibition of Pilar Ovalle of wood figures in the roof, exactly in the eye ;). I really liked her kind of art.
We spend the night in the German Bar and ate Kroketten, and a kind of Black Bread, but it was not really Dark Bread ;(
