We left Moose Lake on a cold rainy day. My Brother Eric (also from California) remarked that it is warmer in California in January. We drove along Lake Superior. Even in overcast conditions the Lake is impressive. The rain stopped long enough for a hike at Gooseberry Falls and in Grand Portage we went to the highest falls in Minn. The falls were on the Pigeon River, the river is the boundary between the US and Canada. We drove on to Thunder Bay, Ontario to find a place to stay. Looking at the GPS we saw "Prince Arthur Waterfront Hotel." That sounded good. The hotel was along the waterfront (across the train tracks) in a dumpy part of town. We looked for an alternative, a Best Western with no view. Thunder Bay is a big industrial city, not cute. But at least Randi can wake up on her Birthday in a king size bed.
