Ok, so I caught a train to Oslo in the morning, as people had told me it was supposed to be a really nice journey (and they advertised it all over Bergen as one of the most beautiful train trips in existence) and, to my surprise, it was a sunny day! My very first one since I landed in Europe.
The journey is in fact really beautiful, but the awkward angle of the sun and the constant tunnels managed to stop me from taking more than a single picture (so you will have to take my word for it ;). All the time it was like: Oh, this is so beaut... tunnel; let me just take a pict... tunnel; now, I have to be fast... tunnel. Argh! I just took one and gave up, better to just admire it rather than waste time trying to photograph.
And then, after a very tiring and long journey, I got to Oslo and called Mari, my host, who took a somewhat long time to understand who I was. And then the dialogue was something like:
"Ok, where are you now?"
"At the central station"
"But wouldn't you arrive next weekend?"
"No, I am here right now"
"Oh, no..."
"Is that a problem?"
"Yes, I am not in Oslo"
Another exceptional stroke of bad luck for me, as it was night, my chances to find a place in a hostel were slim at best and I din't really have the money for a hotel in one of the most expensive cities in the world.
So I thought at first... I then decided it would do no harm to try contacting some hospitality club members for an emergency hosting, even though there are not really many active members in Oslo. I managed to find about seven with contact information on the profiles. Four did not answer, the fifth was leaving to Sweden, the sixth just said "Sorry, can't help you" and the seventh (an Ukrainian girl called Nadiya) offered to meet me in fifteen minutes at the station.
Then she got there with two guys from Uganda she was showing around the city, asked me what had happened and after a very short explanation agreed to give me a place to sleep, even though she knew absolutely nothing about me and couldn't really host anyone at that time... And as I joined her and the two very funny guys for a small tour to a lake, then went to her place and talked to her for a rather long time (we said good night three or four times before we could actually stop the conversation), she proved to be an exceptionally nice and interesting girl.
After a sad goodbye the next morning, I just explored the town a little by myself, visiting the main street, the national gallery with a lot of Munch's paintings (including the Scream and Madonna), the very funny guards at the royal palace and the city hall, near which there was some kind of festival going on and I stopped there to see some African music with really nice percussion and later some Chinese dragon dancing. When my mistaken host then finally arrived in the evening, I went to her place and joined her and her roommate for a night out, first in a friend of theirs' house and later in a bar, where I had a lot of beers (the people just wouldn't let my glass be empty) and tried some nice Norwegian potato booze before we came back home walking in the rain.
Then for my last day in Oslo (which was also sunny, unbelievable!) I visited the most famous park, with a lot of very nice sculptures by a Norwegian artist whose name I could not even understand :) and later joined Mari for a walk along her favorite parks, the oldest building in the city (a medieval church) and the places she wanted to live in (which are really everywhere around Oslo :). In the end I really liked her and my stay in her house, in spite of her mistake, which actually turned into something really good by giving me a chance of meeting the out of the bell curve Ukrainian girl.
Next destination - Stockholm.
P.S.: I didn't find a place where I could upload some Oslo pictures, so that will have to wait a bit.

european tunnels tsc tsc...
I had the same problem in the trains in Germany: everytime the landscape was perfect for a picture another tunnel appeared and pffff... ok, be fast and... but I couldn't take any decent picture and ended up with no battery in the camera...! :/
Well, hope you have many sunny days from now on... enjoy Sweden!!

Munch, Aquavit??? I´m so jealousssssssssssssss
Yeah, I was jealours already, but seeing Munch´s works (The Scream has been one of my favorites for years, and the Madona is just great) and drinking Aquavit (the potato spirit) did it!!
I bet Aquavit is quite disgusting, huh? A friend always tells me so.

Anyway, keep it up - yeah, keep making me jealous!! ;)

((((( hugs )))))
