Mountains and Canyons

Auf dem Weg nach Colorado fuhren wir für ein paar Stunden durch Nebraska, wovon es nichts zu berichten gibt - völlige Einöde.
In Colorado besuchten wir zuerst Leute, die uns beim Sonnentanz eingeladen hatten, was darin resultierte, dass uns ihre Nachbarn ihr Solar-Wochenendhaus in Utah fuer ne gute Woche im August anboten, was wir gern akzeptierten, bot es uns doch die Möglichkeit, mal wieder für eine Weile an einem Platz zu sein, wie wir es in Asien so geschätzt haben.
Ausserhalb ihrer Stadt Loveland fängt gleich der Rocky Mountains Nationalpark an, den wir an einem besonders wolkigen Tag besuchten, was uns ordentlich auf's Knie fiel, da man oben in den Wolken nicht die Hand vor Augen sehen konnte - keine Photos also, wir hatten nur einen vagen Eindruck von den gigantischen Bergen und Tälern...

Danach fuhren wir nach Süden durch oft atemberaubende Landschaften zu einer lustigen Rainbow-Bio-Farm und zum Schwarzen Canyon, der zwar nicht so tief aber dafür viel enger ist als der Grand Canyon und daher ziemlich beeindruckend rueberkommt.

Verschiedene natürliche heisse Quellen und die Grossen Sanddünen lagen dann noch an unserem Weg durch diesen Staat, der endlich nicht mehr so provinziell wirkt wie der Norden, sondern sogar ziemlich an Kalifornien erinnert, obwohl wir sein kulturelles und alternatives Zentrum Boulder noch nicht mal besucht haben.

Before we reached Colorado we had to get thru Nebraska which was uneventful to say the least. Colorado greeted us with great people we knew from the Sun Dance who had invited us to their place just outside the Rocky Mountains National Park. Their neighbors quickly offered us their solar weekend house in Utah for a week in August which we gladly accepted, aching to be more stationary as we liked it in Asia rather than moving all the time. After leaving Loveland we entered the park on a particularly cloudy day which turned out real bad with a visibility of less than 30 ft in places. No good photos, but we got a vague idea of how stunning it would be... Upon leaving the Rockies on the other side the sun came out and we are at a loss why we were not eligible to see this park in all its splendor...

We visited a jolly Rainbow related organic farm and the Black Canyon the latter being really impressive in its depth and narrowness, amply depicted in the Photo Album.

Another of our beloved free Hot Springs and the Grand Sand Dunes National Monument were along our way thru this state that felt much less provincial than the north and almost reminded us of California even though we did not even go to its cultural and alternative center Boulder.
