So, tonight I wanted to show my host family how to make American-style pancakse.  However, there are no ready-made mixes or pancake syrup, so I´ll have to wait until we buy the ingredients.  Eleída showed me how to make Brazilian-style pancakes, though...I must say they are much more fun to make!

You add a 3 cups of flour, water, a few eggs, salt, and then mix it up in the blender.  After it´s good and mixed, pour the batter into a shallow bowl.  Then, with the gas stove top on, take the thing that was called a geladeira, (but it´s a pan where both sides can be used for cooking) and heat the underside. You want it hot but not too hot.  Then dip the underside of the pan into the batter and turn.  Afterward, turn over the pan and place on the stove top.  Once the bubbles are gone, remove the panqueca.  Then add the pre-cooked meat (we had chicken) and roll like a tortilla.  After that ad a little tomato sauce, and you´re good to go!

I really enjoyed this meal, but I can´t wait for them to experience the sweet goodness of our pancakes!
