Hi, I'm late on the entry. I flew from Paris to Stockholm on 30 Dec.
We arrived at Arlanda Airport and took a high speed electric train from the airport into Stockholm Central Station. It was dark, cold, and snowing upon arrival. We walked three blocks to the hotel. In January, because Stockholm is so far north, there is about 5 hours of daylight. In the summer, of course, there is only about 5 hours of darkness. In Stockholm I had a few days off. New Years Eve was cold and there was snow. We watched fireworks over the city at midnight. On New Years Day the temperature seemed colder than the previous day. We walked to Gamla Stan, the old city, and went to the Royal Palce where the king and his family lives. We stood in the snow and watched the changing of the guard at the Royal Palace. The guards were girls and boys and they wore a style of blue uniform that was designed in the 1880s.
After this we went for hot coffee then back to the hotel for a celebratory brunch. More thumbnails ...
