We drove back Capetown to end the wonderful Safari. I had an amazing time. I met new people, saw incredible thing and ate fabulously! The one thing I really wanted to do was to see the Great White Sharks. What better way to do that than go to them and swim in a cage next to them. The bus came at 6 in the morning and drove to Gaans Bai about 2 hours north of Capetown. Got on a little boat and went about 15 minutes up the coast. As soon and we dropped anchor and huge 12 foot great white immediately swam up and went after the bait. So of course I wanted to get in the water!!!! I went down and put on a wetsuit and hopped in the cage. Two great whites banged up against the cage and I got to see their amazing jaws and teeth (i think i know where the title of JAWS the movie came from). One hit its tail up against the cage and i got to touch it. Amazingly enough I think this encounter made me less afraid of Great Whites. Part of the tour is to educate people about these beautiful beasts. They dont like humans and they dont want to eat us. When they do it is by accident and they usually stop. Bull and Tiger sharks are a different story. Anyway the Sharks we saw are younger ones because they like to scavange for their food. The giant adults generally stay away from land and prefer to hunt their prey. They make a video of your dive but unfortunately one of the sharks bit the camera from the metal pole and that was that. I got a few pictures but I will post them later!!!! Sharks are COOL!!!
