Where I stayed
To be honest, not much happened today either. I got up and went and had breakfast around 9 am. Had a pancake stack with loads of fresh fruit, yum yum. After breakfast I decided to have a walk around the town to see what it has to offer. Banos is a small town which is surrounded by beautiful luscious green mountains, one of which is an active volcano, Tungurahua. From this volcano, the town is supplied with lots of thermal hot springs, so that is what attracts the locals and the gringo's to the town. There are various pools that you can pay to go into so maybe I will go one day whilst I am here.
Apart from the usual tat shops and restaurants, there isn't much else here, but it is a nice place to come and relax. There are also lots of outdoor activities you can do in the surrounding area like horse riding, paragliding, mountain biking, hiking, the list goes on.
After a short walk around town I headed back to the hostel. I had noticed that they have a mini spa here, so I put my name down to have a Hot Stones Massage. It included reflexology, so this should be interesting. 75 minutes and cost $25, not bad.
The massage was lovely. I had never had a hot stones massage before, however, I will continue to have this when I get home as it was amazing. The reflexology was quite good as well. The massage was so good that it sent me to sleep.
The rest of the day/evening was spent either having a doze in my room, or chatting with some lads that I met here in the hostel. It was their birthday yesterday and they had some cake so we did the totally English thing to do and have tea and cake at 9 pm at night (on a Saturday night)!
Hopefully I will have the energy to do something tomorrow.
