What I did
Cycled for Miles!
Whilst I was sat around waiting for my washing to finish, I bumped in to two girls that were on my tour from Perth - Mary (mother of god) and Karen. They were leaving that day, but kindly showed me around town so I could get my bearings.
The hostel I am staying in is completely different to the last. It is in a large house/bungalow with about 12 rooms. It has a nice chill out area and swimming pool and is so laid back, it's horizontal. Just what I needed after Darwin!
Came back and booked myself on to a 3 day tour of Uluru and the surrounding area. I leave at 5.45 am on Saturday morning. No partying on Friday night then eh!
Really didn't do much last night as I didn't get a proper nights sleep on the train so went to bed around 9 ish. Yawn yawn!
Today was completely different! Woke up around 6 ish as the 5 Taiwan people in my room were packing up and getting ready to go. I had some breakfast (which is free here - yippee!) and decided what to do for the day.
P.J, the guy that runs this place is so helpful. I said that I wanted to go around town, but didn't want to walk. He suggested hiring a bike (push bike). He charged me $20 for half a day but didn't care what time I got back, so I could have it for the whole day basically. He suggested that I cycle along to Simpsons Gap which is part of the West MacDonnell ranges outside of Alice Springs. There is a cycle path that winds through the bush and is pretty flat, so I thought, why not, it's an adventure and I need some exercise.
Oh my god, I will never learn
I finally got back to the hostel around 3.35 pm after a detour to another hostel as Sylvia back in Broome gave me a message to give to one of her good friends that she used to work with back here in Alice! I think Susan took pity on me and was also very grateful that I had passed on the message as she gave me a massive bottle of cold water which I necked in one go!
Once I got back to the hostel, I stripped off and threw myself into the freezing cold swimming pool. I didn't care, I just needed to cool down, which did the trick!
Tonight I am due to meet Sallie who I met in Broome, as she lives here. Only going out for a quick drink as I have to get up early tomorrow morning and I have to pack a small bag as we are not allowed to take our backpacks with us. I have to leave it here and make sure P.J. has it by 6.30 pm!
You won't hear from me now probably until Tuesday as I will be out of range walking around Uluru and becoming at one with the Aboriginal people. Mum - watch out!!!!
