Once up and going we went to check out the elephant seals 10 mile north of our hotel. The squirrels were the first ones to greet us as we pulled up. Soooo cute! And little. I thought they would be at least twice the size. Then the seals, big and stinky. So good to see that from nearly being on the point of extinction these guys are making a remarkable comeback. Fascinating to watch.
Had lunch at Moro bay where the power station is smack bang in the town. Red reckons the town planner is a unit. Haha. Beautiful little village with sea lions, a small marina and fog to make it all magical. Even got pooped on by a brown pelican! Lucky it only got my foot. Was dodging I can tell you as I saw it coming right at me. Was scared of flying birds after that.
Moving further south we headed for a little beach called Avila beach. Just lovely.. Dipped our toes in the water and took 'em straight out again, too cold. Amazed to see that Rv's are allowed to line up along the coast road for $40 per night. Too many to count and we have seen that in many places along the coast. 5 pm and we headed to Pismo beach. Got a room and then we went to Denny's restaurant for tea.. Had been 25 years since last there. Had great memories of using them and was ticketed to go back. Used wifi to phone Jessica cos she has heaps of data and chatted for almost an hr. what a treat
