A) 22 hrs in a vehicle goes buy a lot faster when you leave at midnight, but would probably be even faster if one has the ability to sleep in a car. (Which I Do Not).
B) Espresso stands exist in the least likely places, like the Lasso Espresso in Nebraska where I stopped for an excellent double.
C) Boy George (of Culture Club fame) is an excellent DJ. (Z, you should look into this)
We got into Boulder about 5pm local time and decided to ask around about cheap campgrounds. We went into a store called Outdoor Divas, which catered to ________Women! They recommended this campground about 90- minutes away
We woke up at 7am and decided to hike Mt. Audubon (elev. 13,233) FYI; going from 300ft above sea level (Detroit) to 5,2300 (boulder) to 9,000 and hiking to 13,000+ all in 48 hours is NOT a great idea. Needless to say the hike spanked me, and I spent the return part trying not to pass out. After passing out in the truck for the ride to Boulder, I refueled with an Americano and some Pizza, plus Ibuprofen. What marvelous drugs we have! I was back to myself in no time. We spent the afternoon walking around Downtown Boulder and people watching.
When Dave & June got home we cooked up a multi-ethnic meal (Indian, Middle Eastern & Broccoli) and then went too a local brewery for a pint. What a great start to a trip! It's been great reconnecting w/Dave who's one of my closest friends that I rarely get to see. Tomorrow we'll do some "easier" hikes at Rocky Mountain National Park and probably drive to Moab, Utah in the evening.
