OK here i show you pictures and videos of the compulsory exerise class that every first year student must do everyday at 7am. A register is taken to check if they are there. Ben told me he hated it when he had to do it!

It was strange that at 6.40 everywhere was empty and "hey jude was blasting out of the speakers", then at 7 so very many people were there!

i then go on to show you breakfast.

Next i have pics of the "English corner" class; it is where some students go to practice their English. In my first week had been asked if I would like to go, I had agreed as it is nice to help out. I am glad i did as it was very enjoyable - i had a great time there and this week too! Last week I had asked if they would like me to bring my laptop and show pictures of my home etc- they were all very keen. So this week everyone crowded round and the pictures started many conversations about life in the UK and in China.

i learned that the students think it is very cold now, they do not have heating or air-conditioning in their rooms; so it gets too hot in summer and too cold in winter. I feel very lucky to have air con' in my place - the weather temperatures now are not at all extreme (even though i think it's so warm) and i have used it to cool me down!

Students do not have cooking facilities either - probably a good idea for safety reasons. The students said they can't cook - perhaps an egg or something simple - but i guess if they can't practice and eat in canteens every day this is no surprise.

They talked about their favourite holiday - spring holiday - new year. The most important part is to be with family and eat much delicious food!

They questioned why we use fireworks so little in the UK and commented that there had been fireworks at the royal wedding (which i didn't know)

i showed a picture of haggis - they thought or said it looked delicious and was making them hungry! they also liked the sunday roast picture!

I showed some Scottish animals - one girl said she'd had a squirrel as a pet but it ran away.

They were interested in the kilts and different tartans - they said they had seen red tartan but not the other colours.

Anyway it was all very good fun and interesting

i also show my authentic pot noodle experience!

Can't help but think they were just being polite about the haggis hehe ;o) Can't believe the amount of people on thier way to the exercise class - i watched your video, and I reckon I can count to 8 in chinese now ;o) Do you know how many students are on campus? Must be at least a million!

i thought maybe she was being polite about the haggis too lol but they did tell me things that they didnt like the look of too. Maybe its because they eat weird things - so because haggis is weird it looks tasty whereas the broth pic I showed them did not appeal!!

i think 20 or 30 thousand students here not exactly sure!

glad u can speak some mandarin now too :) numbers were the first words i learnt!!!
