Where I stayed
Gill felt a little strange getting a taxi from the sandfly infested Highlands Guest House and going to the Marriott. I knew we could have taken a bus for much less, but I just didn't feel like it
Gill had called first shower a full week earlier while we were traipsing through the jungle and without hesitation climbed into the full power massaging shower head and cooked herself in the luxurious bath. The shower was so hot, she came out sweating. This first real shower in almost 2 years was quite possibly the best shower that I've ever had in my life. I scrubbed off layer after layer of dirt and could feel my pores breathing once again. After lounging around and checking out the room in my bathrobe, it was time to hit the pool and have some lunch. I ordered a half pound burger and Gill got a Rib eye steak sandwich. Both were huge American portions and came with some excellent piping hot fries. There was nothing left to do, but kick back and read my book by the poolside. It was getting on towards Beer O'clock and I was very tempted to swim over to the bar and get a cocktail, but I just couldn't bring myself to pay the 21RM for a small Tiger. So I walked across the street and got a 6 pack for 20RM at the Chinese restaurant and stuffed them in my minibar. Life is Good! The only problem with staying at the Marriott is that internet access costs more than every other hotel I've paid for in Malaysia. And many of those cheaper rooms included free Wifi internet.
C came back from Bario just in time for our last day at the Marriott. She wanted to stay another day, but it really is just stupid money when you consider you can get pretty decent accommodation for 1/10th of the price.
