Unmotivated to re-write the entry we just lost while trying to buy another 30 minutes of internet...
In short, neither of us have much to say about Croatia. It is an incredibly unfriendly country for bikes. Ferry costs were more than doubled, and we were denied access to the (nearly empty) passenger ferry from Novalja (on Pag) to Rijeka, despite showing the captain Robin's broken hub. The coastline was beautiful but we didn't make a special connection with the country. We were just another tourist to the locals and the prices were relatively high based on what we had seen so far. Perhaps having both our bikes break down on us didn't help with making good memories in Croatia. I got my chain and front derailleur cable replaced in Zadar (excellent shop called Euro Bike, but don't bother going to the one in Rijeka) by a very good mechanic named Pave.... my bike now carries his name. And to match it Robin called his bike Pivo after the word for beer! Robin's broken hub and warped wheel had to cycle on for an extra 300km all the way to Logatec in Slovenia to find a replacement wheel
With our bikes back in shape and almost good as new now we head towards the Alps. We make our way north here to Vienna where we will ride along the Danube through Bratislava and to Budapest.
Slovenia has been a beautiful ride with friendly highways through the valleys and an amazingly cyclist friendly Capital with bike routes all over the city.
For now.. Nasvidenje

Abandoned military installations, Slovenia
. We really lucked out at this bike shop. Excellent mechanic, fair prices, free T shirts (much needed), no labour charges and a 20% tourist DISKONT! How often does that happen?!? Really great shop. It was called Vizija Sport in Logatec, about 30 km south of Ljubljana. These guys made our day. With our bikes back in shape and almost good as new now we head towards the Alps. We make our way north here to Vienna where we will ride along the Danube through Bratislava and to Budapest.
