Decided to have a bit of a late start today and didn't really have anything planned until the world cup final at 11am. I ended up watching the first half in the room in Spanish as I couldn't find a channel showing it in English. At half time we wandered down to the casino area and watched most of the second half outside the sports bar, again getting ID'd all the time!

When it went to extra time we couldn't be bothered to stand around any more so headed out towards the Stratosphere Casino. They have the biggest tower in Vegas and there are a couple of thrill rides at the top that I would never go on. A roller coaster at the top of a tower would scare me to death. The walk to the casino was terrible! I have never known heat like what we experienced on that short walk. It was well over 40C (close to 115F!) and it hurt just to breathe! Every step was a challenge and it was amazing to get inside and make the most of the air con. Stood around watching the closing minutes of extra time (great head butt by Zidane!) before the penalties. There was a huge crowd of Italians in this casino watching the game and they all went crazy at the end.

Dave decided he was going to go up the tower for an overview of the city but I couldn't be bothered to pay the $12, plus we've been up so many towers that I am bored of them now! Once he was back from the tower we head off to see some of the thrill rides at ground level. Most of the casinos have rides, presumably to keep the kids occupied, and we decided to have a go on the roller coaster in the Adventure Dome of our hotel. There were so many kids at our casino and most of them were waiting to use the ride. Pretty good ride with a couple of loops so well worth the $7.

We had seen another good ride at the nearby Sahara casino so decided to ride that as well. Speed the Ride was again well worth the $10. I have never been on a ride with such quick acceleration and half the ride was in reverse which was great when riding the loops. Very short ride time though and apart from the speed there was only 1 loop and not much else.

Decided to check out a few of the casinos to see what they were like on the inside. I really wanted to see the Venetian casino but we went to the Wynn casino on the way. Amazing casino and far classier than all the others. The Venetian was incredible! So much attention to detail in every department. Ceiling murals and even a canal system with gondolas inside the casino! Easily one of the most over-the-top casinos in Vegas. Walked around Caesar's Palace which was also extremely OTT and absolutely huge. It was like a small town and we got completely lost trying to find our way around.

It was around 7:30 when we had finished looking around so we were just in time for the "Sirens of TI" show outside the Treasure Island casino. It was brilliant with the scantily dressed girls having a battle against the guys. Loads of explosions and sinking boats. Can't beat a free show!

The Bellagio casino also puts on an amazing water show every 15 odd minutes. Water jets streaming 20ft in the air in time with the music and we stayed around to watch 2 shows before moving on.

We were feeling really thirsty again so went to a real dive of a casino, Barbary Coast, only for the $2 beers. Had a couple and wasted a few dollars in the slot machines before walking back to the hotel. It seems quite legal to drink on the street in Vegas so we bought a huge can of Bud (24oz, about 1.5pints) for $4 off some guy on the street for the walk home. First time we hadn't been ID'd so I gave him an extra dollar tip. Most of the people expect tips all the time but I refuse if they are really grumpy. Why should I give someone a tip if they give me bad service?

Back at the casino I decided I felt lucky and tried my luck on the roulette table again. I had a winning streak and came away $30 up! Even had enough to tip the dealer (as you are supposed to do) $5! Easily covered all the money I had spent on gambling in Vegas and how many people can say they come out of Vegas even?
