The Easter weekend turned out to be a big disappointment. Every evening we sat and watched as huge ominous grey clouds rolled in, giving us prior warning of the storm that was about to unfold. Every night since I have been in Darwin, there has been a huge thunderstorm. The first time I experienced one, I had nearly dropped off to sleep when the loudest clap of thunder I have ever heard (worse than Glasto last year) shock he building. Since then it's been less ferocious but still a pain in the ass.

It basically meant we were trapped in the hostel every evening with nothing to do and that gets incredibly boring. To break up the tedium we went to the cinema to watch Scary Movie 4 (yes that is how bored I was), read 2 books and used the Internet A LOT! Thank God the Internet cafes were open over the weekend, unlike every other shop in town, or I would have gone stir crazy.

During a storm on Sunday we had a few drinks, watching the enormous fruit bats circling above, and by 1am decided it was a good idea to go for a swim! It was great fun swimming, in the really hot pool, in the pouring rain. Well for the 5 minutes until we were all ordered out.

And so to the topic of this entry. Last night a group of Brits got back to our 16 bed dorm at 4am completely slaughtered. Spent a couple of minutes banging on the door for someone to let them in and promptly fell asleep the second they managed to locate their beds. At 5am I was awoken by a commotion as everyone was screaming at some guy as he was walking down the corridor in our room, pissing everywhere. Stopped near our beds and there was a huge puddle of it around our bags! Disgusting!

It didn't stop there. 30 minutes later and there was another load of shouting in the block to our left as his mate had started doing the same thing. Pissed all over his bed and Antti's belongings before falling asleep in the puddle on his bed! This is what you have to live with in large dorm rooms!

We were all disgusted and went to reception to get it sorted out. The guy came to try and wake up the culprits but they were so wasted they couldn't be woken. The smell was becoming unbearable and we were allowed to move into a new room and they would pay for any laundry we needed to get done as a result. I went to survey the damage to my belongings and thankfully I had got away unscathed! Dave and Antti hadn't been so lucky and had to wash all their clothes and bags. As you can expect the culprits were kicked out of the hostel as soon as they were conscious.

On a completely different matter, we are still looking for work and had to sign up with an agency today. Probably get some work (admin or something) in the next couple of days and it can't come soon enough as I have almost no cash left.
