After that I decided I couldn't even be bothered to visit the beach and retired to my trusty hammock. Used the time wisely to formulate my escape from this island prison. I am slowly coming round to the island life but I still want off!
For the last 2 days a car has been driving round town with the same advert blaring over a loudspeaker. It was incredibly annoying for everyone and if I hear the words, "Come see the Super Muay Thai boxing, Koh Pha Ngan Stadium, tonight, tonight, tonight, 9pm, 9pm" ever again I will kill myself but it must have worked because that is exactly where I ended up at 9pm.
Went via Coral Bungalows to meet up with a group of Canadian guys and an America, Kevin, who was coincidentally celebrating his birthday. The no drink till NYE lasted 2 days and I left Coral with a Sangsom bucket in hand.
The boxing was awesome! 8 fights, some good some bad, but all violent and we were all baying for blood. Although there is no official gambling we still made small wagers between us which only helped increase the fun we were having. Egging on the fighters we had backed and screaming encouragement sadly didn't seem to work for the people I backed. That is until I asked the locals for advice and started to clean up!
After a brilliant night my mind is still a bit of a blank. I am now sure I headed to meet Lars and Kim before heading off to the beach, where I am pretty certain I sank another bucket but the rest I am not sure. I vaguely remember heading off to check out the other music and falling asleep outside the Orchid bar with full on techno blaring from the loud speakers. I know I was outside the other bars dancing but never managed to meet up with the others again and stumbled home at 4:30am . Was going to go back out and watch the footie but spurs lost so saw no point.
Apparently all the others seemed to magically wander back at 4:30am as well. It's as if a built in homing device suddenly activated and drove us all back. I also heard that one of the Canadians passed out asleep outside the 7 Eleven! Good night all round.
