Either way I was starving so went to the best place in town, Nazim's, for breakfast! Nothing like a Tikka Masala and cheese nan for breakfast! Every day we had been asking for more spicy and this time it was insane. It was so hot that my mouth was on fire and I couldn't finish it. Still bloody good though!
Seeing as we had done nothing at all the last few days we decided to take a visit to the nearby waterfalls. Were planning to visit the big falls but the prospect of a swim at the other closer one swiftly changed our minds. It was boiling and being able to swim at the waterfalls sounded like heaven!
Didn't take long to find a tuk-tuk driver to take us, they always find you, and we literally only needed to step out from Nazims. Negotiated a price and he drove us to our hotel to get changed. The waterfall was about 30 minutes away by tuk-tuk and we grabbed a beer lao when we arrived. From the town we had to walk to the river and get a upstream to the falls.
The waterfalls were pretty cool although I can't help feel that they were artificial. In contrast to the brown, dirty river water however the water here was crystal clear, deep blue and very inviting.
Headed to the small pool first to get used to the heat of the water. It was still damn cold despite having been heated all day by the sun. The big pool was fantastic! Close to 3 metres deep so easily safe to jump in. Getting across the rocks to the jumping point was a little tricky and slippery due to the constant running water.
A couple of girls were diving in off a tree but I'm not that brave/stupid to try that before at least testing the water first! Jumped in and it was pretty deep. It was also really fast and so swimming against the current proved difficult. Decided to relax in the shallow pool with a beer lao while the sun went down before heading back to town.
Had dinner at the Lao Lao Garden, which included a complimentary shot of Lao Lao that was actually quite nice before going to the Hive again!
