Really wanted to do nothing as well today but had hours to kill before catching the train so decided to visit the Lama Temple. Seeing as one of the stations is actually called Lama Temple you would think the person at the ticket counter would understand. But no. A lot of pointing and Lonely Planet showing later and we had secured a ticket and were on our way.

I quite liked the temple. It had loads of Buddhist statues and is the largest Tibetan temple in China (or Beijing) I can't remember. You can't take any pictures there but they gave you a CD as a ticket which I assume must have some pictures on it. The main reason to go was the 28 metre tall Buddha carved from a single tree. Pretty impressive and I wanted to take a sneaky picture but resisted the urge. Dave thought it was a load of crap and had his photo taken with some Chinese people again, much to my amusement.

Nothing better to do so we headed back to the hostel. Had planned to buy a new book from some street vendor but they had gone so I came back empty handed. Used the net for a while before flicking through the LP looking at the feasibility of going to Tibet.

Whilst there I got chatting to a girl called Julia who had come in to watch a movie. Had a good chat about life back home. She was from Woking and lived in Brighton so we had quite a bit to talk about. Everyone we meet seems to be following a pretty similar route so i'm pretty sure we'll bump into people again all over the place.

At 7:30 we collected our bags and headed to Beijing West Station to board our 9pm train to Xi'an. All 6 beds were taken this time so I had to do my best sleeping with my big bag next to my feet. Didn't work and I won't request the middle bunk ever again if I can help it.
