Where I stayed

Rudely awoken from slumber at 8:30 to get up and ready to head to the airport. We met Graeme and Cindy at the bus station to say goodbye before catching our bus to the airport. Dave's food poisoning was getting pretty bad and had been sick in the communal sink already this morning as both the toilets were in use. Nice!

The bus had the new 80 days around the world film on but with no sound so I stuck on the trusty mp3 player. Dave looked pretty much at death's door and was very relieved to make it to the airport an hour later. Found our check in desk and off loaded our bags before heading to the departure lounge. Pretty much nothing of interest to do there so I found a net cafe and played around updating my journal for and hour and only got charged for 30 minutes! Result! Changed my $NT to $HK and waited around until I board.

I have noticed that Dave likes waiting around until it is almost too late before deciding to leave a train, whereas i'm ready standing by the doors as we approach the station. Apparently this also seems to be the case with flights as well. On the one to Taiwan he seemed quite happy to chat away on the pay phone until everyone else was on board, whilst I sat there twiddling my thumbs panicking and looking perplexed.

On this flight we sat around in the departure lounge until they called our flight. After a huge queue at immigration I was basically sprinting to the departure gate as I knew we were late. Dave decided it was a good time to dawdle 100 metres further back. We were the last people on the plane and he still didn't seem to care.

The flight was rather good and I was panicking for no reason. Very smooth and a great landing. Amazing views of mountains as we left Taipei as well. Arrived at Hong Kong rather blase. I preferred Taipei infinitely more than HK but we had to come back to get our train to Shanghai, so it would only be for a few days.

We knew exactly where we were going so grabbed the bus and headed to Causeway Bay. Had some trouble finding our reservation so we ended up having to get a triple room for the next 2 days. Dave may have been ill but I was having the double bed.

Dave was still throwing up all the time, and our toilet didn't flush so I went to the supermarket and grabbed a load of crap to eat and used the Internet for a while. After a short time reading by torchlight I fell asleep at 9pm!
