Awoke around 10:30 when Dave came in my room and told me to get the hell up. Had a great nights sleep and felt refreshed. We were heading out into the countryside today, to a park called Hutoubpi, and the first time away from the cities since we left the UK. Hutoubpi wasn't our first choice however, we had originally intended to go to Wushantou, another park, but the bus had left hours earlier. We would have to get up earlier tomorrow.

At the bus station we got tickets to Hutoubpi but it didn't go for an hour so we headed to get some lunch. Once we boarded the bus we knew it was going to take about 45 minutes so settled into the land of mp3 player and dozed off. Next thing we knew we were at the end of the line and had missed our stop! We had assumed the driver would announce each stop but obviously not. So he turned around and dropped us off on the way back to Tainan.

Hutoubpi was really quite nice. A big lake and we spent a decent few hours just wandering around enjoying being out the city for a while. Whilst we were walking around we saw loads of water slides but they were long abandoned.

I was starting to feel ill but didn't let on to the others and was relieved when we headed back towards the bus stop. I was not best pleased however to see the bus fly passed beeping its horn as we approached the stop. I was even less happy to hear it was 2 hours until the next one. I was amazed when Graeme asked if we wanted to wait! I pressed to get a taxi back and a woman told us to walk down the street and we should be able to get one from there.

Walked down the road for a while and saw it was pointless. I spotted a small summer restaurant that was still open and pressed Graeme to ask them to order a taxi for us. Thankfully they did and we sat down for a juice waiting for it to arrive. It was only $NT400 for the near hour trip back which was a bargain and the shop staff waved us goodbye. We were probably their only customers in weeks as it is miles from anywhere.

As I was feeling pretty rough I stayed behind whilst Dave and Graeme went to play squash and swim again. Took a few pills and wrote some diary up online. Got showered and we all headed out to get some dinner at an Austrian restaurant called Andy's. A veritable feast of sausages, pork knuckle, roasted chicken, mash, potato salad, and sauerkraut. I tried to warn Dave about eating too much sauerkraut but he scoffed it down.

Once the formalities of dinner were over the music went up and the beer started flowing. As soon as the music started Tim was straight on the dance floor, tearing it up on his own. We were the only people left in the restaurant.

We had full reign over the jukebox but most of it wasn't any good so I left them to it. It soon degenerated into an 80's cheesefest and much hilarity watching Tim and Graeme moshing away, at one stage playing air guitar with a mop. Good night all round but thankful for a good nights sleep.
