To all of our friends and loved ones, we wish you a wonderful happy, health, and safe New Years Eve.

Just like any day back home for us, we had a list of things we needed to get done and planned to leave for the city around 7:30 PM.  We got up in the morning, had some tea and went shopping.  Picked up a little of everything, photos, food, drinks to ring in the New Year, and the necessities we were starting to run out of.

Went back to the house to plan out the rest of our day, neither of us got very far.  I mostly organized all of our photos.  At one point it sort of felt like we were back in Chicago remodeling again.  Luke asked Bart to help him with some drywall.  It was pretty funny listening to them asking each other how much of a gap they had.  Bart was telling Luke the measurements in inches and Luke in the metric system.  I guess you just had to be there.  Bart made us some lunch (Ham and Turkey sandwiches w/potato salad), as Luke and I started to toast in the New Year.

Soon we  made our way over to Frank and Joyce's house to wish them a Happy New Year and spend some time with them.  We talked a lot, watched the usual 'What happened in 2006' on TV, had some snacks and a few more New Years drinks with the girls (Joyce, Lyn and Sabrina).  Before we knew it, it was 10PM.  We headed back to Nadia's, grab the camera and off to the train.
We arrived at South Bank around 11:39PM, expected it to be jammed with people, since they were estimating 80,000 people to attend the New Years Eve Festivities, but it wasn't bad.  The announcer made random time checks between the music and soon we were counting down to the new year.  We rang in 2007 with a good old, 5,4,3,2,1 Happy New Year!!!  The fireworks started to go off.  I quick turned around for a New Years kiss.  The atmosphere was amazing, everyone had their camera out, oohing and aahing, cheering, singing and dancing, hugging and kissing, what a way to say good bye to 2006 and hello to 2007.  The firework display was beautifully choreographed to music.  Just watching them go off over the water, in warm weather, and not being sick for New Years, the first time in 6 years, was wonderful.  We couldn't ask for a better view with the Brisbane skyline, the bridge and river and thousands of fireworks popping in the sky. Once the fireworks were over to headed back to the train with the massive crowd.
We crossed over the river at 12:26 AM, looking at the clock I could not believe 2006 was all over.  We have done a lot this past year, things that people wouldn't even dream of, finished remodeling our house "Thank God", sold it within 2 weeks which wasn't heard of at that time, quit our jobs and moved back home and left for this fantastic trip.  We started 2006 laying on the couch sick with the flu at my parents house in Pennsylvania watching the ball drop in Time Square, NYC.  We had some wonderful memories along the way and some sorrow as well.  We wish the best to all this year with love, health and happiness in 2007.
Arrived back to the house at 1AM, wrote this blog and heading to bed.
Happy New Years to all!!!
