We met up w/Regina's friend who took us to the top floor of the commune to the archives. She had volunteered a few years ago to sort a few stacks of books and to clean and catalog them (lucky for us). She was able to look at the dates I had and find a few records. We made little bookmarks and keep looking. By the time we finished, we were the last people in the commune. The only problem was that the copy machine was in a locked office!! Uggh! She asked us when we were leaving. We told her we had planned on leaving that morning, but are now staying another night. She said she would call Francesca who works downstairs and have her copy the pages we need. I felt very uncertain leaving with absolutely zero as far as new info
. But I just had to hope for the best. We went back to where we were staying, took a little nap and changed our clothes. We figured we would go for a little ride through the coutryside. We drove out of Capradosso and passed a restaurant 'La Maddonnina'. Regina had taken us there the year before to meet the owners since they had the same last name as my grandmother, but we were unable to find any connection. They were happy to see us again and invited us to eat. I asked what time they opened and said we would return later. We drove for awhile and reached the town of Castignano. It was a pretty busy town w/many shops lining the main street and even had a grocery store. We drove up to the historic center where the church and huge bell tower are located, for a nice panoramic view, then headed back for dinner. We were the first ones there when we sat down but later a few more tables came in. We asked for something simple... maybe some pasta. Well, first came the .. We did eventually get our pasta... then meat off the grill. Simona asked us if we were ready for dessert. She brought out... I got up to thank everyone and visit with the family in the kitchen. To be continued...
This still needs updating...
