Later we hopped on the train, which seemed more like a subway train w/comfortable seats for our ride to Pescara on the eastern coast of Italy in the province of Abbruzzo. About a hour into the ride we started to see amazing views of steep mountains. The train weaved back and forth around the hills. We had some great panoramic views with the heavy clouds of a storm adding some lightning to the view. I wanted to pull out the video camera, but there were quite a few people on the train and I did not want to look like that much of a tourist. I figured we would sit on that side of the train on the way back and get all the shots I wanted. By the time we pulled into Pescara it was dark and rainy. Nothing was open at the terminal except the office of the TrenItalia. A gentleman there pointed us in the direction of a hotel. Luckily, the rain lightened up as soon as we walked out the door. Across the parking lot and main street we found ourselves walking along a really nice pedestrian shopping area full of shops and boutiques. We priced a few hotels and went with the Hotel Alba for 60 Euros. We entered our room and were a bit blown away; Large modern room, full bathroom w/lots of space, TV, small terrace, drapes that matched the bedspread and there was even a mural on the ceiling above the bed. Quite a contrast between this and were we slept last night for the same price!! We ate some of the food we have been lugging around and watched some TV before hitting the hay.
