The ride was fairly uneventful and very comfortable. I watched a movie on my laptop while my dad got some email done and Henry and my mom did some reading. We got to Prague at around 7:30 and were greeted by a train station that was pretty run-down. The area we were in was a little sketchy, so instead of trying to walk to our hotel, we took a taxi for 19 euros! This is a cab ride that was only about 5 minutes long, but we decided it was worth it since the area did look a little sketchy, and we didn't exactly know where we were going
We got to the hotel and found out that it was probably the nicest hotel in Prague! The room was probably similar pricing to a New York City hotel, but everything else at the hotel was even pricier then New York City. I thought that we were in Eastern Europe! To get internet in your room for the day was about 100 American dollars! You can get the same service in the US for around 10 dollars. We decided that this definitely wasn't worth it when there was free internet in the lobby. My mom was also scared to go out to dinner that night because it was dark and she didn't really know the city, so we had dinner at the hotel. The restaurant there was very pricey, but the food was also extremely good. The special that night was roasted duck, so I decided to get that. Henry got some sort of trout, and my parents each got a vegetable platter. Everything was very good!
We went on the internet for a little bit that night and used Skype to call Andy and Laura on my laptop. We then went to bed fairly early at around 10pm.
The next morning, we got up at around 8:30 and had the free breakfast at around 9:30. The breakfast was also very good and we left the hotel to go to some sightseeing with a full stomach
After seeing a little bit around the castle, my mom, my dad, and I decided that we needed to sit down and get some lunch before continuing. Henry on the other hand was ready to see more, so we decided to get lunch while he toured around a little bit, and we met him back in front of a church after a good lunch
In one of the churches, we were given the opportunity to hike up 300 steps to the top of one of the towers on the church. We completed the walk and got to the top where there was a very nice view of the city.
After we got down from the top of the church, we started to make our way back to the hotel. We had gone to the other side of the city, so it took a little while to get back, but we got to see some of things we hadn't seen on the way over.
After getting back to the hotel, we got some recommendations for dinner and made our way out to a nice restaurant where the food was good, but not as good as the last night at the hotel. We then walked around a little bit and got some coffee and ice cream at a café down the street. It was around 9:30 at that point and we decided to go back to the hotel. My dad wanted to go out and gamble at a casino he had seen, but my mom insisted that it was probably run by the Russian mafia, so she didn't let my dad go out and gamble. We went to bed shortly after getting back and watching the news for a little bit.
The next morning we had to see one more thing before we left
After that, we did a little shopping for some stuff we had seen the previous day, and then returned to the hotel were we got a ride back to the train station to go home. My dad was a little upset when we learned from the Hotel, that instead of taking the train, you could take a Bus for about 1/3 of the price and twice as fast! Oh well... The train made some random stops and we were about an hour late, but it wasn't that bad.
