This hotel has a little shuttle-car to the front entrance of the park, so we took this out in the evening. In front of the park is a network of pedestrian malls, with expensive shops and restaurants. We could not find any food we really liked and ended up with rather inferior noodles and dumplings. This is a big disadvantage of staying in this area. Bagua is less central and has much nicer local food. However this is certainly handy for the border and shopping.

This morning we thought it prudent to apologise for making a fuss about the noise, as we are likely to come back here in future. No problem with the deposit as they agreed to give us small notes.

At the border we compared notes with a Singaporean couple. The husband is working in Shenzhen and is very aware of the crime problem in China 01 An attractive building in the Culture Park.

. He has lost four mobile phones - and he keeps it in his inner coat pocket. He said as soon as the thieves see it, they can get it. It is how they make their living, so they are experts.

Back at City Garden we had a few things to sort out. For a start they had replaced our king-size bed with a smaller double. No problem getting it changed back, but we wondered why they bothered. I suppose the guests have to be treated the same or they'll find out and all want a bigger bed. It's good to be back, but we look forward to Easter and our next trip to the mainland.
