France's big day. We saw fireworks last night with Corinne and Than in Riom. It was quite beautiful. Apparently all the small towns had their celebrations last night and tonight it will be the big towns - so we will see more fireworks in Tours. We took the family out to lunch, together with Georges and Monique, their son and granddaughter. A very nice meal, but we always think it's a waste ordering a menu for such young children. We never did it with our boys - they just had a bit of our meal. We were a bit anxious about getting to the station on time, and, in fact, we just made it as we had got the time wrong. We thought, for some unknown reason, the train was due at 1.36 p.m. and it was actually 1.25.
Yesterday was a big day of travelling - about eight and a half hours - Toulon to Riom via Marseilles. Our friends have sent their furniture to Cambodia so the bedroom that was so cluttered before was bare apart from our mattress on the floor - much nicer than before. No more staying with friends for the rest of the trip. Just as well - it tends to be expensive.
