Cruise Day 5 of Segment 1 - Food (Temperature 75F or 23C – mostly cloudy)

There are many different types of dining opportunities on the ship.  Usually you are assigned to formal dining at 6:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m. and we signed up for the 6:00 p.m.   You also have the option to sign up for anytime dining where you reserve on a daily basis.  There are also buffets (Windjammer) pizza (Sorrento's) and sandwich joints (Caf Promenade, Vintages Wine Bar), The Cupcake Cupboard) and of course Johnny Rockets for the greasy food.  There are also speciality restaurants  (Chops Grille, Portofino Restaurant), for a nominal fee.

We try to think we are not scheduled, but we really are.  We like breakfast at 9:00 after we go to the gym from 7:00 – 8:30.  We usually just go to the buffet for salad for lunch between 12 – 1.  We are trying to eat very carefully this trip as it is a long haul and you can get carried away.  If you are not careful you can gain enormous amounts of weight.  On our good days, for breakfast we have yogurt and fruit, for lunch we are trying to stick to salads and for dinner we are trying to have a no carb appetizer, for dinner fish or chicken and lots of salad and vegetables.  For dessert we are trying to keep with a low carb or sugar free dessert.  We are trying but it is very hard. Tip:  Stay away from the fresh bread at each meal!   It usually takes about two hours for dinner.  It’s good if you have good tablemates for conversation during this time.  We have lucked out once again with ours!
