After 3 days on a bus, John and I found ourselves last Wednesday, in Costa Rica. No border troubles, and fairly comfortable, airconditioned buses helped our 3 day journey seem bearable.

And, the best part - after all the travel, we got picked up by a private shuttle in Liberia, and whisked off to the Paradissus Playa Conchal on the coast, thanks to Johnīs parents. Thanks!!! They are spending the week there with his Uncle Matt and Aunt Ann, as well as his momīs cousins Sonya and Kelly and their husbands Dave and Mark. We got a day pass (thanks again Brenda and Steve!) which managed to last 3 days... :) We have spent 3 days lounging by the pool, utilizing the swim up bar, and having awesome meals. All 10 of us also went on a midnight excursion to the national park nearby, to see the leatherback turtles, and we were lucky enough to see a mama laying her eggs in the sand. It was amazing! We werent allowed to take pictures, but I will never forget that moonlit stroll, and seeing something the size of a kitchen table delicately folding sand over her precious eggs.

Most of us also went horseback riding on the beach yesterday, which was fantastic. We saw families of howler monkeys in the trees, including little babies hanging on to their momīs backs. They make a grunting sound that is very human sounding, I think... it was amazing to see them. Oh, and the iguanas at the hotel! And nasuas... and raccoons! it was incredible. Again, pictures coming! I promise!

Now we are back in liberia, ready to head to Nicaragua tomorrow. Wish us luck! We have been so lazy for the last 3 days, it is hard to get moving. However, the good quality time we got with Johnīs family, and in such a fantastic place, was so worth the trip! Thanks guys!!! We miss you all already!
