loose ends...

I'm on my way...but I've spent the whole day traveling just to Toronto...finally getting ready to board the final leg, an 8 hour trip to Lima. I'm already tired and not due to get there until 2:45 AM. I generally don't like arriving in a new place in the middle of the night but I've got someone who is supposed to pick me up and bring me over to a hostel.
Right now my mind is caught up in minutiae....like why am I wearing a brand new pair of boots instead of ones that are already broken in? And will my luggage arrive with me? (I doubt it)....And my seat on the plane...last trip I was next to someone with horrible breath for 7 hrs...and then there's the fight for the armrest....am I going to be squeezed for 8 hours?...then there's the person who wants to talk too much....only more absurd is the person who doesn't talk at all, not even one word, even though you're sitting less than 1 inch away.... And why doesn't every major airport have wireless? And why am I going to Lima anyway? Really I'm just tired...and it feels like I'll never get there...all I need is some rest and it'll all be clear. And of course it all works out...the luggage even arrives!! It's maybe the last bag off the chute and I'm ready to give up, but it's there.... I got an excellent seat on the plane- nobody next to me...my ride was waiting, friendly, and gave me a 4 AM tour of Lima, in Spanish, on the way to the hostel. Lilli, the woman running the hostel is great...she tells me to just lie down and rest...everything is perfect....I can smell the ocean...Lima makes total sense....the only unknown still haunting the corners of my consciousness in these early morning hours....why the new shoes? Only time and some mileage will tell...

Ummm, new shoes are the best! You'll have them broken in in no time, and you'll look GREAT doing it. :)
BTW, thanks for the pullover for Anna and the calendar! I can't believe you're traveling the world and still managed to send us Cmas presents.

So you did buy the boots. But you know what they say.... It's all about the socks and keeping your feet dry. That's my advice for the day.

Glad to hear you got to Peru safely and with luggage. I have a friend who traveled to Morocco and the luggage never arrived, in fact it's still missing and she's back home. I just know that more adventures and wonderful people and beauty await you in Peru and the other places in S. Amer. you'll be visiting. Can't wait to hear all about it. Happy New Year and my love to you.
