So next we arrived in Ipoh on the bus. The bus was like a prison bus. We felt like convicts. The windows were completely sealed off by metals bars!!! We had planned on staying in Ipoh for a night on our way to Bukit Merah but decided not to once we arrived there. The place didn't look very touristy and there wasn't much to do. We got another bus to Bukit Merah Laketown Resort. The bus couldn't take us inside the resort and we were told we had to walk about 3km up a massive hill to get there with all our bags. Luckily the security guard was nice and gave us a lift there in his jeep. We gave him some money but he wouldn't accept it though.
In the resort we went on a boat trip to an Orang-utan Island. It was wicked, the babies had little nappies on still lol. It was strange here though rather than the animals being caged away we were!! They had lots of space and we walked through a tunnel to see them in their natural environment. Afterwards we went to another animal park. We got to feed loads of different animals. The monkeys were swinging all over the place to get food from us. I even got to hold a python(Tina). Crazy stuff.
Afterwards there was a bird show which was really good. The parrots were playing basketball, riding little bikes and playing dead when the presenter pretended to shoot them! It was really clever some of the things they could do. The only problem with this place was the mosquitos we both kept waking up in the night. Must of been bit about 20 times just through the night. The resort was really good fun and our next destination is Penang.... More thumbnails ...
