The passage to Moorea was a piece of cake..again. Motored most of the way in light Southerly breeze. We arrived to a sunrise and rainbow. What a welcome.
Moorea is beautiful, I know you are all getting tired of hearing that one, but I am running out of adjectives to describe these places (and the last time I used the word stunning I was called a 'big jessie' by some manky scots git). The mountains are more dramatic than Bora Bora, but Moorea lacks the large playground of the lagoon that was there. Not to take anything away from the beauty of the place, Cooks Bay was the location for Mel Gibson's film 'The Bounty', and is an impressive bay.
The next morning we went out to snorkel with the reef sharks and stingrays, which was a cool thing to do. They were very tame and obviously well fed, expecting tidbits from every visitor. Check it out on the video, if you care (5.3MB).
We decided a road trip would be a good idea, for lack of any other things to do besides hang out in a resort and try to make off with their pool towels (Mike and I had made a game of this in Bora), and so set off to find a car. On our way to procure said vehicle, Val got the call that our parts had arrived in Tahiti... Road trip abandoned.. back to the boat and on our way to Papeete, Tahiti... So much for Moorea, though not much complaining from Mike and I as we were ready to find a place that was not just honeymooners and holiday makers. Bring on the dancing girls!

Unfortunately we arrived on a Sunday, and nothing goes on in Polynesia on a Sunday. This is true of everywhere we have been. Thanks be to the missionaries, of the past. They have a lot to answer for! So we had a quick look around by dingy, once the drizzle stopped, but spent a quite evening on the boat, catching up on sleep.

Good to see you're still rocking the white v-necks! Cat and I are in Maine and very jealous of the pictures. We flipped my dingy last week and were shivering in about 2 minutes. Luckily Cat dove under the boat, released the sails, and saved us. Glad to be heading back to Nanny Cay soon?
Best,
Karl and Cat
