Day 24: on the bus to Bangkok - Thailand

A very quiet day, we just stroll around the city for a bit to stock up on supplies for tonight's busride. We booked an overnight bus to Bangkok, to be followed by a bus to Cambodia leaving early in the morning. We both hate night buses, but we didn't really have a choice. We wanted to take the train, but the train to Bangkok arrives half an hour *after* the train to the Cambodian border leaves, and Selmer doesn't want to spend one more minute than absolutely necessary in Bangkok (he hated it when he was there a few years ago), so we give in and book the bus - albeit reluctantly. The bus leaves at 6 pm though, so we have almost another full day in Chiang Mai, which is nice as it's a pretty cool place. It's a big city, but it doesn't feel like it. There are a lot of backpackers, but because of that also a lot of nice cafés, restaurants and secondhand bookstores.

After a few hours we return to the guesthouse to wait for our bus there. I register all the books I've picked up in South East Asia on Bookcrossing so I can start getting rid of them and make my backpack a bit lighter. :D

We get picked up by a tuk tuk that takes us to the bus and drive all night. I don't sleep much, I *hate* night buses.
