Day 1: Paris
We get on the 10 am Thalys [fast train from Amsterdam to Paris] and arrive in Paris at 1 pm - I still think it's weird how fast that train goes! We leave the station and start the search for our hotel, which makes for a promising start: we can't find it. We end up on the wrong street: it turns out there's both a rue and a boulevard de Rochechouart. Thankfully they're pretty close to each other so we do find the right street a bit later. :D After settling in we hit the streets and go up to the Sacre Coeur - one of my favourite places in Paris. After that we stroll around Montmartre for a while until it starts raining and we go back to the hotel for a nap. After a bit of a rest we go back out to find a place to eat. Somehow we always end up at an Indian restaurant. :D We have a lovely meal, despite the annoying Canadians talking loudly and starting every sentence with 'when I was in [insert exotic location]...'. After dinner we walk around a bit more and return to the hotel for an early night - big day ahead tomorrow!
It's kind of funny how blasé one gets about going to Paris though. I've been there quite a few times in the past year and it's only a few hours away anyway, so it doesn't even feel like a foreign country anymore. Which is a shame really, as Paris is a pretty cool place - very pretty and lots of good cheese. :D
