Saying farewell to the tour, I caught a free shuttle bus to my home for the next 2 nights. The Patong Merlin. Right in the heart of Patong beach and party town. It was a shame that I was so sick to do anything!
I checked in and headed straight to the pool, where I spent the rest of the day relaxing. Swimming in one of the three pools, with palm trees swaying and the sun shining and working on the tan. I did manage a short walk along the markets that night. My room at the Merlin is lovely, a nice big bathroom and massive king size bed. It is set amongst palm trees and pools with bars and restaurants.
The following day, I headed to the.............you guessed it, the pool, where I layed for most of the morning, before heading out to do yet more shopping and met up with Trina. Leaving here in the afternoon I headed back to the pool for a last swim. Feeling a little better, I decided to do some cultural stuff. I went to Simon Cabaret. Wow. A full show of ladyboys, dressed up to the max and strutting their stuff, dancing and singing. All I can say is WOW. You would not know that they were men. Some of them are absolutely stunning. Puts my makeup regime to shame! It was full glitz, glamour and a little bit of sleaze! I then dined at Patong Seafood, a big restaurant overlooking the beach, where you choose your seafood from the front bins and they cook it fresh. I decided to try the BBQ Killer Prawns. 2 Massive Prawns about 30cm long..........mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
The morning that I was flying back to Bangkok I decided to actually walk along the beach and wet my feet. Patong is definately party strip of Phuket and I would like to come back here one day to experience it more. It was nice to relax and rejuvinate, but I missed out on an element of what this place has to offer.......until next time.
