We finally drove as south as we would drive to the Great Ocean Road. This drive was probably the best coastal drive we've ever taken. Absolutely majestic scenery and special towns along the coast's edge that had a modern element to them while maintaining their mountain roots. We drove it on an awesome day - sun shining bright, not too many clouds, and the water just glistened as we winded and curved along this great path. It was funny because they must have a lot of ignorant foreigners drive that road because they had signs everywhere that said "Drive on the Left in Australia" which means they must have had a couple of unpleasant accidents in these narrow mountain roads because someone was driving on the right side of the road which, ironically, is the right side of the road because it's the correct way to drive!

What was also pretty cool was that we saw an Australian porcupine called an echidna cross right in front of us as we drove the road. We had to slam on the brakes to avoid running over it but it was a cool experience. They say the echidnas #1 killers are vehicles - they don't know any better when crossing the roads. Poor guys.
We had hustle to see one of the major highlights of the Great Ocean Road by getting to the 12 apostles limestone rock formations before nightfall. We made it just in time before sunset. The lighting was spectacular against these limestone formations. It's hard to describe but you basically had these jetting rocks shooting out from random areas on the coast. They had other rock formations as well, which we were literally running to see before it got too dark. Our favorite was the Arch and the Grotto - no Hugh Hefner at this one.
