The next day, we decided to go to Macau, which is China's Las Vegas. We were excited because it was another location that we could get a new passport stamp and add to the list of quasi-countries that we've visited. We don't understand if Macau is a sovereign nation or administrative unit of the People's Republic of China, but we got away with another passport stamp which made us happy. We took a turbo jet boat to get there and it was a remarkably comfortable ride. We had a chance to visit the Wynn hotel and were not allowed into the casino because we were too low-class looking with our flip flops. I knew I should have worn my tuxedo t-shirt. They were gracious enough to allow us to eat lunch at their restaurant though. The service was actually really good and the food was good as well. After the Wynn, we decided to walk to the famous Macau Tower which is like the Seattle Space Needle. We realized it was too far of a walk and so went into the MGM Grand to explore a little. This time we were allowed into the casino
Next stop was Macau Tower. This was a huge tower that you could pretty much see from anywhere in Macau. This tower also had a ton of extreme sports at the top like bungee jumping off the top, this suspension drop, a mast climb, and Skywalk X. Rachel and I ventured for the Skywalk X which was a walk around the circular ring outside of the tower. It was amazing and intense as you really had to be comfortable with the harness as any misstep and you trip. It took a while to get up to the edge but we did it. We had a chance to sit on the edge, stand on one foot on the edge, lean off of the edge holding on and with no hands, and the finally swing around the tower's circular ring. It was a wild rush and well worth it. We decided to forego the bungee as we had already experienced the world's highest so we didn't want be redundant especially if we could try something new like Skywalk X.
Macau was only a day trip though, so it was back to Hong Kong.
On the Macau Streets
. I still wish I had my tuxedo t-shirt on though. The casino was a casino, but we actually went a little further and saw some grand doors into a spacious promenade area. The promenade area reminded me of the Paris hotel in Vegas. It had multiple shops and restaurants and a huge domed ceiling which let in plenty of light so that you could see the plant life throughout. They even decorated with an October theme full of pumpkins. They were serving free cotton candy and an artist would paint you for free as well. Rachel jumped all over the cotton candy, but we didn't get a chance to get ourselves painted because the guys was such a perfectionist that it took too long waiting in line. He painted an eyebrow during the 15minutes we were waiting in line so we figured we'd be waiting there forever. Next stop was Macau Tower.
