Oatman was a very cool little town set up against a mountain. It is very close to what I would assume an Old West town would have been like a hundred years ago. First of all, there are burros all over the place. There had to be 20 or more of them. They wander the streets trying to get people to feed them. The town gets much of it's identity from them. Jackass Junction would be a good example.
The main street was full of shops and restaurants but the biggest name in Oatman is the Oatman Hotel. It's claim to fame is that Clark Gable and Carole Lombard spent their honeymoon there. It is also rumored to be haunted.
By this time, we were pretty hungry so we had a bite to eat in the hotel restaurant. The walls were covered in dollar bills. There was a small area for acts to perform. It had a painting of Willie Nelson above it. After lunch, we headed upstairs to see the honeymoon suite and took some pics. I loved seeing the upstairs of the old building. Before we left we had to stop for ice cream. Yes, we had just ate so we weren't craving it but when you see a place called Sweet Sally's you have to stop.
From Oatman, we headed up to Sitgreave's pass. I was a little concerned by the looks of it on the map but it turned out to be not a big deal. It was no Hogsback.
