The last day in Vegas I insisted we visit the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is a vast valley that has been carved by the Colorado river over millions of years.

Getting there and back is a real pain as it takes 5 hours to get there and 5 hours to get back, which was always going to be tricky given that we needed to catch a flight to Washington that night. Dad and Maurice took turns driving (getting permission for me to drive is too expensive). Maurice was all over the road from the get go and was shear agony to sit in the front as he veered off the road about once every few miles. For that very reason I prefer to sit in the back seat so that I can't see what is unfoldoing on the road that I can’t possibly control. On the road there we passed the Hoover Dam which isn’t all that impressive. In fact the new bridge they are building to bypass the Dam is more impressive than the damn itself. Views are long the way are quite good at times as well. The landscape is certainly different to Deserts in the outback.

We got to the Grand Canyon and realized we only could spent 45 minutes there. The views of the Canyon are AMAZING. Really words and pictures cannot do it justice. No matter how long the drive would take it is certainly a must see and a real wonder of the world. It is certainly the most unique and best landscape I have seen so far in my lifetime. The temperate on the rim was quite a bit cooler than Las Vegas, about 28 degrees, but at the bottom of the Canyon it was about 44 degrees, what a huge difference! People go to ridiculous lengths to take photographs. They will stand on edges of cliffs just to get a good shot and not even flinch. Incredible. We got back from the Grand Canyon with enough time to return the hire car and have 1.5 hours to go before the plane left to Miami (before heading to Washington).

Pictures from the trip are up as well as photos have been added to the previous blog.
