If you remember, from past years, Snow Canyon State Park Campground is located less than ten miles from St. George, higher up in the beauty of the red rocks. This is our forth visit here and is much different. There is spring green... the good news. It's Spring Break... the less than good. The campground is full and there are "Breakers" everywhere one looks. There are lots of families with young children. We are in Utah, after all, if you follow me. Good family country...
The sites are small and each of the main ones contain a Ramada and fancy wood table. But, they are narrow. Fiona moved smoothly into SC14 with my semi-able assistance. She leveled up and the slide room moved into position with only a bit of anxiety...on our part. We'll get used to the procedure in due time, I reckon, but for now, it's amazing.
We got in a short hike of about a mile and a half before dinner. The scenery is even more amazing to me this year, since I'm looking through new lenses. Cataract surgery does give one a new outlook on such things. More red and less orange, is how I would put it. We got a few pictures with the phone this morning, Saturday, as we got out before the "Madding Crowd." Of course, to prove our humanness, we got lost...er... I mean confused and missed the turnoff to the Three Ponds Trail. We did meet a three-person family in the same situation and had a nice visit. We went one way, after the visit, and they another. We did get in over 3.5 miles and enjoyed a new trail we'd never found before and lots of spring flowers. We'll find our "lost" trail better tomorrow, as we scoped out the right turn on our way back to camp.
It's a bit overcast today, but still in the summer temperatures. I really hate to use the numbers, since I do know that Spring has not yet Sprung up in the Northland. It's good for us here. Shorts for me and no jacket for Lynn do it fine.
After lunch we looked for a Geocache that a fellow had told us about. There are only one or two in the park. It was a fun search and we found it without too much trouble. Another learning curve to re-visit. We need this kind of stimulation, plus it gets us hiking into places we'd otherwise not visit.
This will be posted when we get data service. It's a bit primitive here, but we'll get used to it. Thanks for stopping by...
We'd planned that hike today, but the Ol' Weather Man had/has other plans... Wind and rain in the forecast, so we're in town shopping and posting this. Lots to see and lots of us in need of a decent suntan. Sound familiar?
Keep in touch, Amigos, as will we...
